Boilers that notify issues automatically and may be repaired remotely. Condensation sensors enable action to be taken to prevent moisture and mildew. Locks that do not require a key allow clients to let workers in to do repairs while they are away. These are just a few instances of smart technologies that will ultimately help our consumers and business.
We speak with Jessica Kuznia, an innovation analyst who has been driving Yorkshire Housing's work on smart technology.
Where is YH with Smart Technology, Jessica?
We're always learning, learning, learning, and learning some more! We've found several ways in which smart technology may help YH and our customers address challenges. For instance, boilers that self-diagnose problems imply that we should always be able to repair them correctly the first time, sometimes remotely — a win for both us and our consumers.
There is an abundance of smart technology on the market, and we must choose which technologies will work best for our consumers and our business. We've begun small-scale trials — for example, we're going to distribute temperature and humidity sensors capable of detecting damp and mould to a select group of our clients in the Leeds region. Additionally, we're testing smart boilers and smart locks in a few of our new houses. We will not expand unless we are confident that we have the proper goods and partners.
What are our requirements of suppliers?
We want to invest in smart technology, and as such, we are looking for suppliers that will collaborate with us to fully understand the needs of Yorkshire Housing and our clients. We'll need customised solutions for various types of homes, user-friendly applications, and data-driven systems.
How would this assist customers?
This enables us to provide a more proactive service, anticipating issues before they occur. Additionally, it will enhance openness and empower customers. For instance, humidity sensors come with accompanying apps that users may download to their phones. Customers will be able to choose when personnel may enter their homes for repairs by granting them time-restricted access.
Finally, what is your must-have smart home device?
'm a sucker for any technology that simplifies my life, but for the last several months, my must-have device has been my smart thermostat. I'm not sure I could have survived the recent hot in my flat without being able to regulate the air conditioning! Our next blog is on Guarantee rent harlow
